ACTING Gov. Michael W. Cruz has recognized the valuable contributions of the community’s professional social workers and the American Red Cross for their dedication to helping people throughout the community.
Cruz declared March 2007 as “Professional Social Work Month” and “Red Cross Month,” joining the nation in celebrating the integral role of these professionals and volunteers in the betterment of the island during a proclamation signing ceremony held at Adelup.
“It is always important to recognize those individuals who contribute so much of their time, talent and expertise to make our island a better place to live. Our social workers have dedicated their careers to ensure that everyone is afforded the same basic rights, opportunities and respect that we all deserve,” Cruz said.
He also commended the humanitarian efforts of the American Red Cross Guam Chapter and encouraged the people of Guam to reflect on the value of this organization throughout the month of March.
