Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and Taiwan Ambassador Matthew S. Lee took a weekend trip to Kayangel and had the opportunity to visit the ongoing infrastructure projects there as well as joining the Red Cross first aid demonstration.
Governor Edwin Chokai toured Chin and Lee around the unfinished Island Ring Road Project, which is under construction through $95,000 grant from the government of Taiwan.
The Kayangel State Government is the sole contractor under the so-called force account agreement or as a community project.
The estimated length is roughly 12 miles and in addition, there will be four cross roads.
Chokai said that the construction has been installed because of the sudden closure of the former Pacific Savings Bank.
Chin and Lee also visited the soon to be completed underground water station, that would supply the entire island.
Chokai said that the project is expected to be completed at the end of the month or in mid March. The project is also a grant from Taiwan amounting to $300,000.
Another upcoming project is the public toilet to be constructed near the Fisheries Dock.
