Kagman tops Wells Fargo/PSS girls’ caging

KAGMAN Elementary School went undefeated in the 2007 Wells Fargo/PSS Interscholastic Girls Basketball Tournament en route to ruling the annual caging last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
The Blue Marlins completed their tournament sweep with a 12-6 win in the finals over Koblerville Elementary School.
Nine teams joined last Saturday’s tournament and were grouped into two pools. Last year’s champion San Antonio Elementary School skipped this year’s tournament.
The Blue Marlins were in Pool B along with Tanapag Elementary School, Garapan and Oleai Elementary School.
Kagman topped Pool B getting the first semis berth, while the Umangs placed second claiming the last playoff ticket.
Kagman prevailed over Tanapag, 18-0, beat Koblerville, 14-6 and Tanapag, 12-2, in the elimination round.
Koblerville won over Oleai, 10-4, and Garapan, 12-2.
William S. Reyes placed first in Pool A, followed by San Vicente. Also in Pool A were Gregorio T. Camacho and Dandan.
In the playoffs, Kagman was paired with San Vicente with the former winning the semis match, 10-4.
Koblerville and San WSR battled for the last finals berth with the Umangs prevailing, 10-8.
Meanwhile, the boys’ division contest in the annual caging will take place this Saturday, also at the Ada Gym.
WSR will be gunning for back-to-back crowns.
The same format will be implemented in the boys’ division.
WSR is in Pool A with Dandan, San Antonio, San Vicente and GTC.
Pool B has Oleai, Tanapag, Garapan, Kagman and Koblerville.
