THE Dublon Chiefs pushed Kich
Fairo out the exit door in the World Organized Rocball Community League
after pulling off a 66-59 overtime win last Friday at the Marianas High
School Gym.
Kich Fairo absorbed its third loss in as many games in the second round
and was the first team to be eliminated.
All six squads playing in the second round will play five games each and
the top four will advance to the semis. The defending champion Mwaliyas
and Watch & Learn clinched the first two semis tickets.
The Dublon Chiefs with its 2-2 record have a strong chance to nail the
third semis seat. Da Lani Kynez (1-2) and Black Magic (1-3) are the two
other teams hoping to move into the next round.
The semis playoffs are expected to start next week.
The semifinals will feature the No. 1 team battling the No. 4 squad and
the No.2 team facing the No. 3 team in the best-of-three games playoffs.
The finals will be a best-of-five games affair.
The Dublon Chiefs needed an extra set to thwart Kich Fairo after losing
the fourth set, 10-15.
Despite Kich Fairo prevailing in the fourth set, the regulation ended
with the Dublon Chiefs still leading, 56-51.
In rocball, a leading team can only claim the victory if it wins the fourth
set. If it loses, but still holds the lead, the game will go into overtime
with the leading team needing to win one set and the trailing squad needing
two sets to grab the victory.
The Dublon Chiefs made sure the o-kon would be short, as it took the first
overtime set, 10-4 for a seven-point win.
Kich Fairo had a good chance to keep its semis bid alive when it started
strong prevailing in the first set, 17-13.
The Dublon chiefs recovered big in the second set winning by 10, 17-7.
The third set was a neck-and-neck battle with the Dublon Chiefs emerging
victorious, 16-12.
David Tisa was the games heavy hitter with eight points on two aces
and two kees.
Eleven aces, two xunxs, seven kees and a goal were scored in the game.
The lone goal in the match came from Kich Fairos Typhoon Saito in
the third set.
