Variety News Staff

THE Wells Fargo/As Matuis Twins made short work of the A’s, who conceded in their last Saturday’s game in the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield after only two complete innings.
The Twins were leading 32-1 at the bottom of the second inning, when the A’s decided not to continue the game, go home and prepare to bounce back in their next game this weekend.
The Twins’ pitcher Junah Flores allowed no runs in the first inning, which ended with the As Matuis-based team leading, 6-0.
The A’s scored their first run at the bottom of the second courtesy of David Muna, but the Twins were already miles away, as they made 26 runs at the top of the second.
The victory was the Twins third in a row, while the A’s remained winless in three games.
Zack Aldan went 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs and two doubles. Phil Litulimar also went 3-for-4 with four runs, one homerun and two triples.
This was the second time that the Mel Sakisat-mentored Twins scored more than 30 runs. On Feb. 26, the Twins clobbered the Ol’Aces I, 31-6.
Only three games were played last Saturday with the Pirates and defending champion SAIPANCELL Patriots winning over the PTI Jets and the Mobil Kagman Aztecs, respectively.
Last Sunday, only one match was played, as continuous rain prevented organizers from proceeding with the three other scheduled games.
The Tanapag Braves blanked the Ol’Aces I, 13-0.
Ricky Joe Riungel pitched in no relief for four innings, while Jothan Camacho was perfect at the plate going 2-for-2 and scoring three runs, two RBIs and one homerun.
Nick JR Jones also helped the Braves’ cause going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
In the Juniors division, the Fielders slipped past the Tanapag Warriors, 8-7.
