2 alien workers allowed to transfer

THE Department of Labor granted the separate work transfer requests of two nonresident workers following the closure of the companies they previously worked for.
Labor Hearing Officer Herbert D. Soll issued two administrative orders granting the 45-day transfer requests of Chen Lifeng and Purification A. Delos Santos.
Chen’s former employer, Sun Mei Corp., “terminated its business and departed from the Commonwealth,” said Soll in a March 2 administrative order.
Labor denied the application filed by Fusion Corp. to employ Delos Santos due to deficiencies that were not attributable to the employee.
Soll said Fusion Corp. did not correct the deficiencies, and its “corporate owners left the commonwealth without making provisions for employees. The business was closed and the employee was not notified.”
Many months later, according to Soll, the corporation filed an appeal for the employee’s application, but the hearing officer affirmed the denial and allowed Delos Santos to find another employer in 45 days from Feb. 28.
