Boating safety rescues 2 from distressed vessel

TWO men were rescued from a distressed boat by the Department of Public Safety’s Boating Safety Section on Tuesday.
John Lee S. Demapan and Mario Reyes, both 37, were in good condition, DPS.
The vessel was also found to be in compliance with the law when inspected by the officers.
DPS spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro Uludong said the distressed vessel was about a mile west of the Garapan Fishing Base.
The vessel is a 17-foot yellow Yamaha with a 140-horsepower engine.
The boat is owned by Paul Palacios and was operated on Tuesday by Demapan.
At 12 noon, about a mile beyone the reef, the boat’s engine died and could not be restarted.
The operator then called for assistance.
