ACTING Gov. Michael W. Cruz yesterday applauded the efforts of Guam professionals and volunteers who work to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities as he declared March 2007 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
A proclamation signing ceremony was held at the Hotel Nikko Guam during the Guam Disabilities Awareness Council’s general membership meeting.
“I thank the men and women of our community organizations for your dedication and commitment to ensuring a better quality of life for all,” Cruz told those gathered at the ceremony. “You are building a stronger island that supports the needs of everyone based on the vision of a community that cares for all.”
Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month encourages community partners to work with the Guam Disabilities Awareness Council to increase awareness about supporting the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families.
