THE tropical
depression south of Guam has weakened and has been downgraded to a tropical
disturbance, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Chip
Guard.
The winds are weak and that is why we didnt change forecast
as much because we felt the island would heat up and the rain clouds would
come back, Guard added.
The center of the tropical disturbance was located about 200 miles south
of Guam as of yesterday.
According to NWS, the system is not expected to develop significantly
but there will be continuous rains and wind from the north and east of
the disturbance. NWS said it will move away from Guam this morning and
weather conditions should improve later this afternoon as the disturbance
and the shear line clear out of the Mariana Islands.
What we have is rain bands on the north mixed with rain from the
disturbance that is merging with vanishing shear line that was here a
couple of days ago. But we have another shear line coming in Friday. But
it will not have as much rain as we have seen in the past few days. We
will get light rain though, Guard added.
He said that once these systems clear out of Guam, the island can expect
to revert to a dry period.
Expect gradual improvement over the next few days and it will probably
be back into sunshine by next week, Guard said.
NWS advises drivers to be cautious as there will be low visibility and
slippery roads when it rains.
