Nonsense

FORMER Councilman Antonio Borja’s defense of the municipal councils is kind of ridiculous and came short of saying that they are just another employment agency.
For him to say that their existence rises beyond and above the issue of money is like a bad joke. The intent of the legislative initiative is to cut cost for lack of money.
In other words, something’s got to go. I don’t care how good it is for Tinian and Rota — the bottom-line is we cannot afford the councils anymore. There is nothing wrong in having the delegations do the task of the municipal councils since it will not cost us much especially at a time of “walang pera,” or “taya salape.”
If it is really that good and important for Tinian then I urge the people there to use their casino’s income to fund that operation. Here on Saipan, we have had enough of this nonsense. Anyone opposing the legislative initiative because they feel it’s a publicity stunt are narrow-minded and don’t know any better.
Now, I would like to challenge our legislators to show their quality of leadership by passing this legislative initiative. Actually, I have confidence that it will pass because it is the right thing to do. But then again, you never know.
