Sen. Alfonso
Diaz was found guilty of two counts of broadcasting recording violations.
Diaz however did not get any jail term but was ordered by Chief Justice
Arthur Ngiraklsong to pay a fine of $500 for each count , totaling $1,000.
Based on the two-page guilty verdict and sentence last March 2, it stated
that "based on evidence and law, the Court after the trial found
Mr. Alfonso Diaz d/b/a Diaz Broadcasting Company guilty of two counts
of broadcasting recording violations. Defendant failed to retain and make
available for inspection certain broadcast recordings on Oct. 16, 2006
and Oct. 17, 2007."
Diaz was earlier charged with two counts of broadcasting recording violations
for failing to make available for inspection broadcast recordings from
Diazs Oct. 17, 2006 radio show.
The case stemmed from a request from citizens coursed through the Ministry
of Commerce and Trade asking for a copy of Sen. Diazs radio show
broadcasted on WWFM on the morning of Oct. 17, 2006.
The ministry however has not received any tapes and that Diaz said the
requests was untimely.
