Two youth groups
in Koror have voluntarily offered their services for next weeks
Education Awareness Week, according to Sinton Soalablai, Chief of School
Management of the Ministry of Education.
The two youth groups are the Koror State Government Youth Division and
Koror State Government Youth Council, who will also host a lunch for the
kids from schools in Koror who will take part in the weeklong activity
set March 12-16 during the actual youth day on March 15.
The central schools include Meyuns Elem., Palau High School, Koror Elem.,
G. B. Harris, Mindszentry High and Seventh Day Adventist Elem.
The lunch will go with the meals that the MOE already providing to the
participants from all schools in Palau and that the two youth groups will
be responsible for assisting during lunchtime for all the kids in Palau
during the events from 12 noon to 1 p.m.
"They want to be involved in the Education Awareness Week. They want
to see a positive image about their groups. They want to inform the kids
of what they are doing to the community," Soalablai said.
Those who are considered youth in Palau are aged 18-35.
There will be eight different content areas to be competed among all the
different schools in Palau during the five-day activity to be held at
the same time in Koror since six years ago.
These content areas include social studies, science, health, mathematics,
Palauan studies, English, Physical Education, and career guidance.
Meanwhile, the Palau Visitors Authority has also offered to be involved
in the event and at the same time promote its so-called Welcome All Visitors
Enthusiastically Program.
"We are still on the process of finalizing this," Soalablai
said.
The members of the Organizing Committee, the education specialists and
teachers are having their final meeting 1:30 p.m. today.
