A DELEGATION of Guam Chamber
of Commerce members will be attending the 2007 Asia-Pacific Council of
American Chambers of Commerce, or APCAC, Annual Conference, which will
be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from March 22-24, 2007, a media release
said.
According to Peter Sonny Ada, chairman of the Chambers
New Industry Development Committee, our mission at the conference
is two-fold.
We will be promoting investment and business to benefit our members
and the island, as well as promote and confirm Guam as the host venue
for the Spring 2008 APCAC meeting, he said.
APCAC consists of 25 American Chambers of Commerce, which represents the
growing interests of 10,000 businesses and 50,000 executives in 19 countries
and economies of the Asia-Pacific region.
The APCAC membership manages trade volumes in excess of $400 billion and
direct investments of over $200 billion. APCACs mission is to improve
the competitiveness of U.S. businesses in the Asia-Pacific Region.
The conference will provide a forum for Guam Chamber of Commerce
members to collaborate with other APCAC members on regional and industry
levels and share ideas on how to maximize the opportunities in each of
the Asia-Pacific markets this year, said Ada.
He added, The agenda will also include keynote addresses by several
senior U.S. government officials, Vietnamese government and business leaders,
and regional business leaders. Among the speakers will be the prime minister
of Vietnam, Nguyen Tan Dung, who will be speaking on Vietnams role
in the global economy.
