THE stage is set for the bragging
rights in the third quarter of High School sports. This week playoffs
begin.
In girls high school softball action, the Simon Sanchez Sharks and
the George Washington Geckos lead their respective divisions. The Sharks
are atop the Taga Division with an 8-3 record and the Lady Geckos look
like powerhouse champions with the best overall season record of 11-1
to lead the Gadao Division.
Next up in their respective divisions are the Southern High Dolphins with
a 10-1 record for the Gadao group. Norte Dame at 7-4, Guam High with a
4-8 record and Academy of Our Lady with a 3-9 showing round out the Gadao
Division. In the Taga group, the John F. Kennedy Islanders at 6-5, St.
Johns Knights with a 2-9 show and the winless St. Paul Chrisian
Warriors, 11-0 hold up the foundation for the girls league.
The playoffs for the Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association
of Guam Girls Softball Gold begin tomorrow, Semi-Finals are on Wednesday
and finals will be played on Friday.
In Boys high school hoops, the playoffs begin on Tuesday. Four games
be played tomorrow night as the teams attempt to advance. All games begin
at 6p.m. Tagas top Ranked Simon Sanchez will take on Southern at
Sanchez. Tagas No. 3 JFK will take on Gadaos No. 2 GW at GW.
Guam High will challenge St. Pauls at the Warriors Home Gym and
FD will take on the winner of the St. Johns versus Norte Dame match
at home. Semi-finals are on Thursday and Finals on Saturday. The semi-final
match-up will be played begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday March 15. As well,
the final match-ups will be played at the University of Guam Field House
with a 5;30 match for the third place finish and 7p.m. match for the Championship
in the Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam Boys
High School Basketball League.
