THE District Court of Guam
yesterday scheduled the separate sentencing of two felons after accepting
their guilty pleas.
Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood set a June 12 sentencing of Bert
R.A. Muna after accepting his guilty plea. Muna was charged with being
a felon in possession of a firearm.
Muna, 24, was convicted on Oct. 31, 1999 in the Superior Court of Guam
on one count of theft of a motor vehicle.
On Jan. 28, 2006, a witness reported that Muna went to his residence,
became angry, and pulled out a Beretta pistol.
Muna entered a plea agreement on Jan. 30, 2007 and admitted that he was
in possession of a pistol he previously purchased for $20.
The maximum sentence for a felon in possession of a firearm is 10 years
incarceration, a $250,000 fine, and at least three years of supervised
release, in addition to the terms of imprisonment.
Judge Tydingco-Gatewood also set a May 2 sentencing proceeding for Jacob
Ulloa Camacho, another felon who was caught in possession of a firearm.
Camacho, 38, was convicted in the Superior Court of Guam on March 28,
1994 on two counts of aggravated assault.
On July 30, 2004, he was caught in possession of ammunition, specifically
a .45 caliber bullet, a .762 caliber bullet, and a .50 caliber bullet.
