President Remengesau will
fly to Saipan to attend the 7th Western Micronesian Chief Executives'
Summit will be held on Saipan on March 21-23, 2007.
The summit will gather the four leaders of Guam, the Commonwealth of the
Northern Mariana Islands, the State of Yap within the Federated States
of Micronesia, and thePalau to discuss on a wide range of issues affecting
the region.
The summit hopes to come up with regional initiatives to several environment
protection issues and tourism.
President Remengesau will tackle Micronesian Challenge which has been
supported by the leaders of the region.
The summit will reaffirm commitments of each participants in establishing
close ties, expansion of future discussions and agreed on beneficial initiatives
for the benefit of the entire Western Micronesian Region.
For the chief executives summit, the agenda comprises discussion on the
invasive species, renewable energy, workforce investment, transportation,
health and tourism.
A joint communiqué is also expected at the closing of the summit
detailing the deliberations.
