THE Masters of attorney Bob
OConner had an easy time against the Saipan Korean Jaguars as the
former cruised to a 29-2 victory in the debut game in the 2007 Budweiser
Saipan Major League baseball tournament last Monday at the Francisco Tan
Ko Palacios Ballfield.
B. Duenas pitched in no relief for six and a half innings shutting out
the Jaguars in the first three innings and posting nine strikeouts.
With Ton Camacho hitting a single and driving Tony Pangelinan and EJ Sablan
home, the Masters took a 2-0 lead at the bottom of the first inning.
After the Jaguars Jeon Jung walked Sakisat and Tony Rogolifoi was
thrown out at first base, Peter Camacho hit an inside-the-park home run
to drive Ton Camacho and Sakisat home giving their team a 5-0 lead at
the end of the first inning.
The Masters continued to play solid defense in the next two innings, as
Duenas had three strikeouts in the second and third innings allowing no
runs for the Jaguars.
Lee Jae Sun scored the Jaguars first run at the top of the fourth,
but the Masters countered with four runs to increase their lead to 13,
14-1, after four complete innings.
The Jaguars nailed their second and last run at the top of the fifth,
but it had created little impact on the game, as the Masters scored runs
one after another. They had 10 runs alone at the bottom of the fifth for
a commanding 24-2 lead.
The Jaguars never recovered from thereon with the Masters defense
holding on and Duenas posting three more strikeouts.
Peter Camacho went 1-for-2 at the plate, but had two runs and four RBIs.
Ed Sablan and Ton Camacho had three RBIs each, while Sakisat went 2-for-5
with five runs, a single, a triple and a walk.
With the victory, the Masters join the defending champion Bud Kings in
the win column. The Bud Kings defeated the Ford Rangers last Friday, 8-1.
Tonight, two more teams play their first game of the season with the Tanapag
Braves challenging the Young Guns at 6:30 p.m.
