Speed, alcohol factors in Sunday’s car crash

THE toxicology reports show that U.S. Navy Lt. Heath Schroeder was driving under the influence of alcohol when his car crashed early Sunday morning.
Guam Police Department public affairs officer Allan Guzman said Schroeder’s blood alcohol content was 0.25, three times over the legal limit.
“Speed and alcohol were factors in the Sunday morning accident…The two fatalities in 2007 thus far were both alcohol related,” Guzman said.
Schroeder, 28, was an optometrist at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center.
Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola earlier said Schroeder died from a broken neck and skull fracture.
The Navy man was traveling in Ordot on Leo Palace Road early Sunday morning when he lost control of his 2001 white Chevy tracker which ran off the roadway and struck three power posts.
The vehicle flipped three times and ejected him through the passenger window. He landed on the roadway, head first.
