The Federal Aviation
Administration will conduct a workshop in Palau slated from March 26 to
29.
Vice President and Justice Minister Elias Camsek Chin said that the workshop
is intended to improve the concerned agencies to respond to emergency
situations.
The workshop will be a follow up of previous trainings conducted by FAA
in Palau.
Chin said FAA representatives will also look into the Peleliu State airstrip
to improve it to become suitable for commercial flights.
With this, the United States Coast Guard will also be search and rescue
training from March 21 to 23 in Palau.
Chin said this is the first time that the Coast Guard will conduct the
training as a follow up to the maritime surveillance conference earlier
conducted in Palau.
The conference held last Nov. was a gathering of officials from Australia,
Federated States Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, Australia and
United States.
The conference focused on marine safety, work of the patrol boats and
transnational crime.
During the conference, the participating nations agreed to improve the
regional observer maritime program, expand patrol operation, and improve
regional vessel monitoring surveillance.
