The governor’s ethical tap dance

GOVERNOR Camacho retains indicted Superior Court go-between Tony Sanchez, indicted former close associate of Judge Lamorena in the Abramoff influence-peddling scheme, as one of his top advisors. The governor says Sanchez is innocent until proven guilty, and that’s absolutely right.
What’s not right is the governor’s willingness to overlook and condone Sanchez’s actions in channelling public funds to promote the governor’s election campaign, while engaging in political skullduggery to sabotage the campaign of his rival, Robert Underwood.
What Sanchez did, along with Howard Hills, Abramoff and as-yet-unindicted co-conspirators, is abhorrent to any person of principle. The governor’s acceptance of it is no less repugnant.
