A one day workshop was conducted by the Australian Museum last week at the Belau National Museum.
Vinod Daniel head of the Australian Museum’s Collection and Research Resources said the workshop dealt on the museum building that is sustainable and to move away from the concept of an airconditioned museum building.
He said in May an intensive workshop will follow which will tackle emerging cultural centers.
He said the five-day intensive workshop will cover a number of issues.
Tina Rechucher-Marugg , Executive Director of the Belau National Museum said that the Australian Museum and the Pacific Island Museum Association earlier forged an agreement for the conservation, enhancement and preservation of cultural heritage.
The workshop was a result of an agreement from PIMA.
Marugg said at least 30 participants from the Palau Visitors Authority, local architects, Palau Community College, Koror State, Ngarchelong State, Ngeremlengui, Melekeok, Airai and Ngiwal States attended the workshop.
Daniel said Palau and the Australian Museum are also working together to work in intangible heritage such as music and dance.
