United States Secretary Condoleezza Rice thanked State Minister Temmy Shmull for the expression of condolence following the death of former President Gerald Ford.
"Thank you for your kind expression of condolence following the death of former President Gerald R. Ford. Your Message was deeply touching," Rice said.
Earlier, Palau expressed condolences to the U.S. government for the demise of former U.S. President Ford who was the 38th president. Ford was 93 years old when he passed away.
Ford battled pneumonia for years and suffered from two minor strokes.
"President Ford was a great man who will be remembered for his humility, his common sense and his firm resolve during one of the most divisive times in American history. His steadfast leadership during a time of extraordinary crisis will always be remembered with heartfelt gratitude and deep respect," Rice said in her letter to Shmull.
