AN overstaying alien who has
been eluding immigration officers for the past four months was arrested
on Thursday afternoon.
Heng Xie Li, 35, was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing on Friday
afternoon before Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja.
Naraja imposed a cash bail of $9,900 for Heng Xie Lis temporary
release.
The court said he will be deported from the CNMI immediately based on
a Dec. 5, 2006, deportation order.
Heng Xie Li was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections
after the bail hearing.
He is expected to depart the CNMI this week.
Based on the affidavit of the Division of Immigration Services, Heng Xie
Li is a worker from the Peoples Republic of China who has overstayed
in the CNMI without lawful documentation or authority to remain here.
His permit expired on March 27, 2005.
Heng Xie Li was ordered deported on Nov. 30, 2006 but he relocated and
could not be found by authorities.
Heng Xie Li was a construction worker and a poker arcade attendant in
2004.
