AN overstaying alien who has been eluding immigration officers for the past four months was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
Heng Xie Li, 35, was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing on Friday afternoon before Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja.
Naraja imposed a cash bail of $9,900 for Heng Xie Li’s temporary release.
The court said he will be deported from the CNMI immediately based on a Dec. 5, 2006, deportation order.
Heng Xie Li was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the bail hearing.
He is expected to depart the CNMI this week.
Based on the affidavit of the Division of Immigration Services, Heng Xie Li is a worker from the People’s Republic of China who has overstayed in the CNMI without lawful documentation or authority to remain here.
His permit expired on March 27, 2005.
Heng Xie Li was ordered deported on Nov. 30, 2006 but he relocated and could not be found by authorities.
Heng Xie Li was a construction worker and a poker arcade attendant in 2004.
