SUBWAY Seventeen
fourth grade students of William S. Reyes Elementary School took a lesson
on healthy eating from Subway during a field trip organized by their teacher
on March 6.
The field trip, involving WSRES students belonging to the schools
physical education class, was part of an ongoing educational activity
that started on March 5 and is scheduled to culminate on March 20.
It gives them a very good insight about healthy eating, said
Brandon B. Concepcion, a WSRES physical education instructor, Its
a good early start. The kids at school are very excited. They keep asking
for their turn to go to Subway. Some of them even want to come back.
Concepcion said his doctor suggested that he organize the field trip with
Subway during their discussion about where to hold the educational excursion.
He said Subway is one of the few places on island where you can
have a good healthy meal, Concepcion said. I wish I had a
field trip like this when I was a kid.
Before having their meal, the students took a lesson on the importance
of eating fresh healthy food from Leilannie Salvani, administrative supervisor
at Subway who discussed the nutritive value of each vegetable in a Subway
sandwich.
Marcia Ogania, store team leader, demonstrated all the Subway menu choices.
She showed and explained to the students the varieties of bread, meat,
cheese, vegetables, sauce and beverage available at Subway.
The students said they enjoyed their meal would be back again at Subway
together with their family to try other healthy food on the menu.
