With ballgames and other sports
competitions already expected to finish as of presstime last night, the
successful staging of the 2007 Education Week comes to its climax today
with the awarding ceremonies for the general champion still being determined
by the organizing committee.
The program specialists that composed the organizing committee, which
is chaired by Chief of School Management Sinton Soalablai, are still collating
results of the different contest areas.
Faith Swords, Education Specialist in English provided initial list of
winners in English Read Aloud with Tyula Tmarsel of G.B. Harris as first
placer while Jamilee D. Cruz of Pelelliu was second and Hope Kinny of
SDA third.
In English Story Telling Antja Flowers of SDA topped the contest while
Charity Chiokai of Koror was second and Jennifer Nakamura of Airai settled
for third.
Koror Elem. Came first in English Commercial Presentation while Angaur
Elem. Landed second at second place and Koror Elem again for third.
In English Essay, Martin Orrukem of Koror won and he is set to recive
his trophy in todays closing ceremonies.
Amber Osima of Ngarchelong received her first place trophy as early as
the opening ceremonies last Monday March 12 along with second placer Jammal
Rengiil of Melekeok and third placer Sidney Franz of Ngeremlengui.
Sean Lawrence of Meyuns topped the Palaun Spelling Bee contest with Manzel
Ngirmeriil of Koror Elem. Finishing second and Marisa Olikong of Peleliu
settling for third.
Todays other activities will be health nutrition display at the
PHS Open Stagte, Science Tour Coral Reef at MOE Parking Lot, Sopcial Studies
Skit at the track and field, match counts at PHS Resource Center, Health
Nutrition Display at PHS, Palaun Skit at track and field, match counts
at PHS, Social Studies Demonstration at PHS Resource Center and others.
The Closing ceremony will start at 2 p.m. with special remarks from Vice
President Elias Camsek Chin and awarding of prizes to be administered
by Chief Debbie Tkel-Sbal.
Chief Raymond Mechol will give an evaluation of the week that was while
Director Emery Wenty will deliver the closing remarks.
Soalablai will give special announcements, Keolani Dingilius, 12th grade
at PMA will give the closing prayer.
A farewell song will be led by the Melekoek Elementary School.
Championship gmes in all categories in ball games are still in progress
as of presstime last night.
In Softball, GBH and KES are playing for the championship round for Grade
6 Div I while Ngchesar was still waiting whom to play with ofr the championship
in Grade 10 Div II.
All games in basketball yesterday were championship with PHS Blue was
set to play against PHS Red (Boys HS), Melekeok vs. Ngiwal (Co-Ed G6-III),
Peleliu vs. Ngchesar (Girls G2-II), Meyuns vs. SDA (Girls G4-I), Ngeremlengui
vs. Peleliu (Boys G4-II), GBH vs. KES (Boys G3-I), Ngardmau vs. Ibobang
(Co-Ed G4-III).
All games in volleball yesterday were also championship round with Angaur
taking on Nagardmau (Co-Ed III), Peleliu vs. Ngeremlengui (Boys II), GBH
vs, Meyuns (Girls I), GBH vs, KES (Boys I), PHS Blue vs. PMA (Girls HS),
and BMS vs. PHS Red (Boys HS)).
