THE Commonwealth Ports Authority
is now enforcing a new set of fines and fees for traffic violations at
the airport.
The CPA board on Thursday agreed to amend airport rules and regulations
as recommended by Executive Director Clyde K. Norita.
The request for an amendment to the rules is to increase fees for
traffic violations at the airport which mostly involve illegal parking
and towing, Norita said in an interview on Friday. And the
board approved the amendment and we have started enforcing it.
Under the new rule, a violator caught speeding will be fined $35 plus
$5 per mile over the speed limit.
If the speed limit is 35 and they were traveling at 40, the citation
would be for $35 plus $5 for every additional mile per hour which in this
case translates to a $60 fine, Norita said.
For towing violations, violators will be charged $75 plus towing and storage
charges which will reach $150.
Under the same new rule, no person is to park a motor vehicle in any area
at the airport for a period longer than is prescribed for that area.
Norita said the implementation of the new rule will help increase the
airports revenue.
