SEVEN schools will compete
in the Easter house decoration contest to be launched Wednesday by Paseo
De Marianas Promoters Inc.
The Paseo De Marianas Promoters, the same group that organized the Christmas
tree decoration contest in December last year, will again require the
participants to use recyclables.
PDMP director and CEO Misako Kamata said they want to give children an
opportunity to share the Easter spirit with the visitors of
Paseo De Marianas since many of the tourists from Asian nations do not
celebrate Easter.
The schools that have registered to compete are Tanapag Elementary, Garapan,
San Antonio, Gregorio T. Camacho, Dandan, San Vicente and Grace Christian
Academy.
Each team will have to decorate a model wooden house or garden with recycled
materials.
The contest starts at 1 p.m. and there will be a panel of five judges
who will select the winning entries that will be recognized on Thursday.
The decorated houses will be on display at the Paseo de Marianas until
April 8, and the total prizes will be $6,500 in cash.
PDMP has sponsors who have pledged to contribute the prizes through the
Education Tax Credit program.
The contest criteria:
1) Use of recycled old or used materials for decoration
of the house /garden provided by PDMP.
2) Relevance to the Easter theme.
3) Attractiveness of decorations in design, shape and colors.
4) Creativity in the selections and use of materials, in design concepts,
written or unwritten concepts.
5) Durability the decorated houses will be on display at the Paseo
through Sunday, April 8.
The house/garden must have a school name on the egg-shaped wooden piece
provided by PDMP, and, on the back of the house, an expression of the
Easter theme in at least one foreign language.
