8-year-old girl in possible abduction

By Trina A. San Agustin
Variety News Staff

BY NOT paying too much attention to a woman offering her a ride home after school yesterday, an 8-year-old girl avoided what may have been a case of abduction.
The woman offering the minor a ride was in a golden pickup truck.
According to Guam Police Department public information officer Allan Guzman, the girl was dropped off at her bus stop at 2:30 p.m. in Latte Heights.
A female, of Micronesian descent, followed the girl in a “regular gold pickup truck.”
“The female suspect, while in the truck, followed the girl and started to question her. She inquired if she would like a ride home. The suspect continued to follow the girl until she gave up and left,” Guzman said.
The girl, according to Guzman, answered the woman’s questions but they were not truthful. When the girl reached home, she reported the incident.
“We are asking anyone with information about this truck to give us a call so we can locate the suspect,” Guzman told Variety.
Agriculture officer arrested
Police arrested over the weekend a Department of Agriculture officer, according to Guzman.
Bill Sanchez Raphael, 36, of Yigo, allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in her 40s.
Raphael was arrested and charged by GPD with criminal sexual conduct and family violence. He was booked and released.
The Department of Agriculture was not available for comment on this arrest.
Police seek
robbery suspect
Police are on the lookout for a man believed to have stolen a 40-year-old woman’s purse at the Double D Apartment complex in Tamuning.
Guzman said the incident took place at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday.
“The suspect confronted the woman at the apartment complex and attacked her. He grabbed her purse and ran off with it,” Guzman told Variety.
The purse contained numerous identification cards, credit cards, a couple of hundred dollars, and a cellular phone.
The suspect is possibly local, of dark complexion, with medium/heavy build, and with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt.
According to witnesses, the suspect fled the scene in a faded black old model pickup truck, possibly Nissan. The truck had tinted windows and was without a tailgate. There was also a red placard on the front of the truck. According to Guzman, the vehicle had after market tail lights.
