SMOKIN Wheels, Guams
longest running motorsports racing event, will celebrate a milestone when
racers take to the track for the 25th running of this Guam racing tradition.
The 25th Smokin Wheels will take place at the Guam International
Raceway in Yigo on April 13, 14 and 15.
Smokin Wheels 2006 was the biggest Smokin Wheels to date with
a crowd of over 6,000 fans flocking to the Yigo race track. Smokin
Wheels 2006 also upped the number of different motorsports events held
in one place, over one weekend with 6 different motorsport events on the
weekend schedule including Off-Road, Drag, Rock Crawling, Mud Bog, Drifting
and AutoCross.
The 25th Smokin Wheels will continue the exciting additions by highlighting
all the various motorsports events throughout the upcoming 3-day, anniversary
event.
Plus, this year, the 25th Smokin Wheels will feature Japan racing
legend Hiro Matsushita, who is now an off-road racer, but was Japans
top Indy Car driver for many years. Matushita has accepted an invitation
to compete in the 25th Smokin Wheels.
Something new for this year will be a special track created for island
Auto Dealers to allow potential customers to test drive vehicles on. Its
the first annual Auto Dealers Off-Road Test Track. Auto Dealers are being
invited to participate in this feature by sponsoring their vehicle on
the track. There will also be a time trails race on the main track for
all dealers to run their vehicles in.
The 25th Smokin Wheels promises to be the most exciting Smokin Wheels
to date as the Guam Racing Federation makes special plans for this 25th
anniversary event.
