New York Times writer doing research on fish management in Palau

A writer for the science section of New York Times as well as a correspondent for Science Magazine is currently doing a story about fish management that he said would expose Palau to the world.
Free-lance journalist Chris Pala explained that his assignment is to research about the remarkable record being disseminated outside of Palau particularly about the Protected Areas Network.
Pala, during a chance interview at one of the gatherings in the just-cincluded Shark Week at the Fish n’ Fins, said that the story that he wanted to do is "a new story from the West because it came from the villagers."
"How they would claim for their rights to fish because Palau has a long history of conservation," said Palau, who will leave Tuesday next.
He stressed that he wants to know what the ordinary people in the community think about the PAN and such other conservation efforts or regulations.
"How would they react to it," he said.
Palau learned about Palau through Delegate Noah Idechong during a Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii about Sea of Sialnds about two months ago.
