A 35-year-old man wanted by authorities for stabbing the employer of his girlfriend a month ago was arrested early yesterday morning in Chalan Kanoa.
Police said Mingnan Jin stabbed Eun Soo Han on Feb. 12 at the victim’s apartment in Garapan.
Jin was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday morning before Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona.
The bail hearing was continued only then, because the defendant needed a Chinese translator.
Jin was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections and was ordered to return to the court today for the continuance of his bail hearing.
The affidavit of Detective Juan M. Santos stated that DPS received a call of assault with a dangerous weapon that occurred at the Kaepoong Apartments in central Garapan on Feb. 12.
The incident happened on the third floor of the building, at the victim’s unit.
The affidavit stated that Jin is the boyfriend of the victim’s female employee.
Jin came to the victim’s residence before lunch time and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the affidavit.
It added that Jin argued with the victim and pulled out a long knife from his pocket and threatened to attack him.
The victim begged Jin to put the knife away but the defendant stabbed him in the stomach.
The incident was witnessed by the victim’s wife and a male employee.
Eun was rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center and underwent surgery due to serious wounds in the stomach and right forearm area.
The victim lost a lot of blood and was admitted to the intensive care unit.
The affidavit stated that Jin is staying in the CNMI without lawful documents. He arrived on Saipan on Sept. 8, 2003 and was supposed to depart on Oct. 8, 2003.
