A 60-year-old female tourist drowned in the waters off of Santa Fe Hotel yesterday morning, the third drowning victim this year.
The woman was swimming with her 61-year-old husband at around 9 a.m. when the accident happened.
Guam Fire Department spokesperson Phyllis Blas said the husband noticed that his wife was having problems while she was in the water. He rushed to her aid and brought her to shore.
When they were at the beach, a bystander began to administer CPR on the woman until GFD medical personnel arrived. The woman was given CPR en route to the Guam Memorial Hospital.
GMH medical personnel tried to save the woman, but were not able to do so. She was pronounced dead at 9:50 a.m.
The man, according to GMH nursing supervisor Sally Quichocho, was admitted into one of the hospital wards and is in stable condition.
