THE two ballfields at the Oleai Sports Complex will be busy from today until this weekend, as organizers of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament have scheduled makeup games.
On Covenant Day tomorrow, the Northern Angels and Hustlers will play in a make-up game in the Big League at 12 noon at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
The Angels and the Hustlers were to meet last Tuesday, but the game was cancelled,
as SLLB officials assisted vice president Mike Borja during the rosary for his mother.
Tonight’s game featuring the PTI Fielders and the UMDA Aztecs, also in the Big League division, will go ahead as scheduled at 6 p.m.
In the Senior League, which usually holds games on Saturday and Sunday, SLLB officials have set two matches tomorrow.
The UMDA Fielders will take on the Jets at 9 a.m., while the PTI Hustlers and the Pirates collide at 3 p.m.
The Jets and the Fielders were originally scheduled to duel last Sunday, but the game was suspended due to haze caused by the gas and steam fumes emitted by the Anatahan volcano.
Over at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield, the Majors division will have a full schedule.
On Saturday, the Wells Fargo As Matuis Twins will take on the Bank of Saipan Red Sox in the first game, followed by the AA Enterprise Tanapag Braves-Hustlers tiff.
The third game will have defending champions the SAIPANCELL Patriots facing the Toyota Matrix, while the Kautz Glass Pirates will collide with the Ol’Aces 1I
On Sunday, the Little Legals will battle the A’s, McDonald’s will meet the Chalan Kanoa Bears, Mobil Kagman Aztecs will duel the Ol’Aces II and the San Antonio/PIC Deloitte Dragons will challenge the Jets.
The Patriots are leading the league with a 5-0 record. They met the Twins last Sunday and were leading, 17-3, when the game was suspended due to haze.
The Hustlers, the Braves and the Twins have four wins apiece.
