THE Ford Rangers vented their
ire on the Saipan Korean Jaguars posting a 50-1 victory in the 2007 Budweiser
Saipan Major League baseball tournament last Wednesday at the Francisco
Tan Ko Palacios Ballfield.
The Rangers lost their debut against defending champion Budweiser Kings,
7-8, but made a big comeback against the hapless Jaguars with a 49-point
win.
The Rangers finished the one-sided affair after only six and a half innings,
as there was no way the Jaguars could mount a comeback.
The Jaguars were at bat at the top of the first inning with Rangers starting
pitcher Dung Tenorio striking out the formers first two batters,
an indication of a night-long misery to come for the visiting team.
The Rangers allowed only a walk at the top of the first and on offense
scored one run after another to take a commanding 14-0 lead, entering
the top of the second.
The Jaguars lone run came in the second inning courtesy of first baseman
Kim Chui.
Tom Agulto relieved Tenorio, who had six strikeouts, on the mound at the
top of the fifth, but still the Jaguars failed to reach home, while the
Rangers had an easier time scoring. Agulto had two strikeouts. JP Flores
also pitched for the Rangers at the top of the seventh and had a strikeout,
allowing one hit.
The Rangers had a field day at the bottom of the fifth scoring 17 runs.
Shortstop Peter Tomokane went 4-for-6 at the plate with five runs, a single
and a double. Third baseman Mario Sablan was 5-for-8 with five runs, one
homer, a double a triple, two singles and two RBIs.
