IT was quite a defeat for
the two-time silver medalist Sonny Chargualaf Saturday night as he defeated
Wynue One Time Bamba by unanimous decision in the first live
airing of the PXC.
This fight was the only fight of the night to go to the judges scorecards.
In fact, it was the only fight to reach the second round. The fight began
with the two fighters feeling each other out. Chargualaf kept his distance
and used his reach and his Tae Kwon Do abilities to his advantage keeping
Bamba away with an array of different kicks.
As the fight moved into the second round, the fighters were once again
feeling each other out with Chargualaf keeping Bamba away with many different
kicks.
This was eventually enough to keep the fight from going to a third round
sudden death.
The judges gave the unanimous decision that Chargualaf had won his first
ever Mixed Martial Arts fight. In the first of the nights four fights,
John Ogo squared off against Cummings.
The fight began knees being thrown by Cummings. After a brief stoppage
to attend to the eye of Joe Cummings, which was cut by the elbow of Ogo
John Ogo went to the ground and pounded by getting Cummings in a full
mount, until the fight was stopped by the referee with 10 seconds left
in the first round. Cummings moved to 0-1 in the PXC as Ogo moved to 2-1.
The second fight scheduled for the night between Chris Duenas and Robin
Caoile did not go on.
Caoile forfeited the fight giving the win to Duenas. In the second fight
of the night Martin Crisp made his PXC debut facing Leo Cing.
Crisp came out to prove that he was the real deal coming into the PXC
by attacking Cing from the beginning. As the fight moved to the ground
Crisp was attempting to take Cings back but in the process ended
up getting a Neck Crank position on Cing and cranked him into submission
with a little less than two minutes left in the first round.
The fight made Crisp 1-0 and moved Cing to 2-2 in the PXC. In the heavyweight
fight of the night the 1-3 Toby Mesa took on the 1-3 Roque Martinez for
the chance to fight heavyweight title holder Charles Aiken in PXC XI No
Turning Back.
