Three apprentices of the Civic
Action Team graduated on Tuesday after completing a 52-week training in
their chosen field.
Ryoichi Alfonsius, Fonda Ngirmidol and Singichi Etpison are now ready
to take on a new task following completion of the training.
Nick Ngwal, member of the Civic Action project committee said that this
type of program by the team is the type of training that young men and
women in Palau needs.
"We are grateful for all the CAT training," Ngwal said.
Ngirmidol and Etpison completed training in their chosen field as a builder
while Alfonsius was provided training utilities career field.
Ngirdmil and Etpison training included carpentry, masonry and drywall.
Alfonsius meanwhile was trained on care and maintenance of hand tools,
measuring and cutting pipe, plumbing terminology , reading blueprints
and water filtration principles.
Alfonsius also gained experience in woodworking and concrete.
The three graduates received commendations and certificate of completions
from their supervisors from the team.
The team train apprentices in various career field which includes Carpentry/Masonry,
Plumbing, Electrical, Equipment Operation and Repair.
The team is now training a total of 12 Palauan apprentices; and there
are four builders, three equipment operators, two mechanics , one plumber
, one electrician , one administrator, one steel worker and one medical
currently training.
The team will be hiring one builder and one plumber to undergo apprentice
program.
Each trainee selected for the program is assigned a supervisor from the
resident Civic Action Team, who will provide training and track progress.
