The underwater investigation team of the Joint Prisoners of War and Missing-In-Action Accounting Command recommend four sites for future excavation.
Capt. George Mitroka, senior team leader said that the crew will be working on Site B until March 28 and will pull out on April 2.
He said it will be up to the United States government as to when recovery operations will be conducted.
Mitroka said that the underwater investigation part of the entire team have conducted remoter sensing operations, visited potential sites as location for American aircraft in Palau.
The team was in Palau for at least two months to conduct recovery and investigations of sites believed to be associated with missing servicemen from World War III.
The recovery operation part of the team was able to recover human remains from the sites.
JPAC is under the authority of the United States Department of Defense.
There are approximately 78,000 Americans still unaccounted for from World War II and there approximately 100 believed missing in Palau.
Mitroka is again encouraging the community for information relating to an American loss to contact JPAC either directly or through the American Embassy or Consulate."
