THE chairman of the House
Committee on Public Utilities, Telecommunications and Communications is
asking the Division of Energy to set up a booth at the Commonwealth Utilities
Corp. to inform the public about how they can save on their utility bills.
Rep. Francisco S. Dela Cruz, Covenant-Saipan, told Energy Director Thelma
B. Inos to consider having a booth at CUCs office to reach out to
more people.
Inos office is located on Capital Hill while CUCs offices,
including its payment branch, are at Joeten Dandan.
According to Dela Cruz, The people of the commonwealth need education
in energy conservation practices and available forms of energy assistance
programs to assist them through these hard economic times.
He added, May I recommend that your office set up a temporary booth
at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. in Dandan to provide assistance and
information regarding energy conservation and energy assistance programs
from your office.
The lawmaker also disclosed that Inoss office has found federal
grants that can be used to retrofit the lighting fixtures at the
administration building.
He asked Inos to educate other government agencies about retro fitting
their lighting fixtures, particularly the Public School System, which
continues to be plagued with budget problems.
