BARTENDERS from the Hyatt Regency and Fiesta Resort & Spa won in Friday’s Bravo Barista competition.
Hyatt’s Patrick Eissa won first place for his “Seduction” entry in the non-alcoholic category.
Ronnie Guerrero of Fiesta Resort topped the alcoholic category with his “Beat the Heat” entry.
The competitor who won in the flair category was Jaymar Torres of Aqua Resort Club who completed his presentation without dropping a bottle, shaker or glass.
The sponsor, Illy Cafe, gave out $650 worth of cash prizes and trophies to the winners, according to general manager Dan Matsuno.
Other sponsors were Aqua Resort Club and the Northern Marianas Bartenders Association, headed by Lito Espino.
Members of the audience also brought home raffle and door prizes that included Bravo Barista t-shirts, designer wall clocks, gift bags containing San Pellegrino sparkling fruit drinks, and gift certificates from Aqua Resort.
Anneliese Wenden, program coordinator, and Mark Lim, market coordinator for Illy Café, organized the competition, which involved inviting competitors, choosing the judges and promoting the contest.
