A storyboard
depicting about the Battle of Peleliu during World War II had been turned
over to the State Government of Peleliu.
Donors Paul and Nobuko Bowen handed over the storyboard to Governor Jackson
Ngiraingas on Wednesday afternoon at the lobby of the Palau Royal Resort.
The Bowens told Ngiraingas that they wanted the storyboard to be in the
Peleliu Museum but they dont know who carved that piece of art.
They explained that they got the storyboard at the Pacific Treasure, a
souvenir shop at the Carolines Hotels in Meyuns.
It so happened that the souvenir shop was about to close its shop and
the storyboard was about to be thrown away but then the caretaker told
the Bowens to take it home if they wanted to.
That was about a few months ago.
The Bowens decided instead to donate it to the Peleliu Museum.
In the storyboard were images of warplanes, soldiers, armaments and battleships,
thus, showing the intense fighting between the Americans and Japanese
on September 1944.
The Ngermeld Water Hole is also shown.
"I thanked the couple for donating such a great artifact and I can
assure them that this will be part of the Museum collections," Ngiraingas
said.
