THREE persons were hurt when attacked by five robbers during two separate armed robberies, according to the Department of Public Safety.
DPS spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said the first incident occurred on Thursday, March 22, while the second happened on Monday, March 26.
Both happened early in the morning.
Ogumoro said the three victims sustained lacerations and abrasions to the neck, arms and head.
The armed robbery incident on Thursday was reported at Crown Poker in Chalan Kanoa at 4:36 a.m.
Three unidentified men entered the establishment. Two were armed with black baseball bats and the third had a taser and a knife.
They struck the security guard Mohamad Nasrul Hasan Bhuiyan in the head and forearm with a baseball bat while one of the playing customers, Wenjie Yu Chin, was assaulted with the taser.
Chin sustained abrasions to the right side of the neck.
The third victim was a cashier, Soawanee Nooserm Witer. She was not injured as she managed to hide from the suspects and call 911.
The three suspects wore dark colored clothing and masks to cover their faces. They managed to grab the cash box from the cashier’s booth and got $1,058 in cash.
The second incident was reported on Monday at 2:55 a.m. at DK Poker in Koblerville.
An investigation found that prior to the incident, an unidentified poker player was complaining that one of the poker machines was not functioning properly.
Kamala Bade Mesik, the cashier, exited the cashier’s booth to assist the suspect.
The suspect suddenly stood up behind the victim and held her at knife point.
The second suspect then entered the establishment.
The cashier was forced to open the door to the cashier’s booth and the suspects were able to steal money from the cash box. They also cut power to the surveillance camera.
The amount of the stolen cash is still under investigation, DPS said.
The suspects wore dark colored clothing, and one of them wore a mask to cover his face.
DPS is asking anyone having information regarding the robbery incidents to call Crime Stoppers at 234-7272.
