ACCORDING to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., yesterday’s report on the privatization project is incorrect and misleading. It was reported that more than a dozen firms have submitted proposals. No firm, however, may submit a proposal without first being issued a certificate of qualification. Firms that are interested in pre-qualifying should submit packages on or before midnight April 2, Saipan time. Only after this process will qualified firms be issued a certificate of pre-qualification and may then determine whether to submit a proposal for purchase of the CNMI power business. CUC said interested persons are encouraged to go to the Web page dedicated to the privatization procurement: www.cuccnmi.com. Here, persons will also be able to read the questions posed by potential proposers and the answers posted from the CNMI privatization committee.
In the article “Court Dismisses Complaint of Negligence vs CHC Physician” also published yesterday, the reporter should have stated that the plaintiff sued CHC, Dr. J. David Southcott and Dr. Bernadette Saccomano for not being able to tell the plaintiff that he had a fractured ankle.
The CHC doctors told the plaintiff that he had a sprained ankle when he was first examined after his accident. After his check-up with CHC, after several weeks, the plaintiff went to Pacific Medical Center for another check up and the doctor found out that the plaintiff had a broken ankle or fractured ankle.
