The Rivals continued
their winning run by beating the Styxers, 95-77, on Wednesday March 21
night in Division I of the 2007 Shell NBL at the Palau National Gymnasium.
Javis Pedro and Jake scored 25 and 20 as the Rivals are 5-0 in their second
round assignments, thus, staying on top with a 13-1 card since finishing
the first round with an 8-1 record.
The loss was the Styxers second of five games in the second round
and are now 6-8 combined.
Also on Wednesday night, the Ididers withstood the late rally by Meda
before coming home with a 63-61 victory and improved their record to 7-8
after two rounds while dealing Meda its seventh defeat in 14 games.
Trump "Ongor" Derbai finished with 15 points, including his
teams last 11 points to lift the Ididers for the win while Gary
Olkeriil had 19.
Lyndon Ngiramolau and Ziske Asanuma led Meda with 17 and 16.
Earlier on Monday March 19, the Ikelauans scored an upset win over defending
champion peched Raw, 77-68, with Kirk Kumangai leading the way with 21
points while Earlee Decherong and Bant Demei adding 16 and 12.
The Ikelauans are now 6-8 while Meda is 7-7.
In the other game, the Ranchers won via forfeiture against Surangel to
snap a 14-game losing skid.
The loss was the Suns fifth straight in as many games of the second
round and are now 5-9.
In Division II, the Stingers defeated Kabong, 88-81, on Tuesday night
March 20 and remained undefeated in the second round after three games.
Kabong dropped to a 1-4 record.
Vann Isaac led the Stingers with 19, June Bautista and Burton Wong added
14 and 12 while Bisa Demei led Kabong with 22.
Also on Tuesday, Airai defeated On Fire, 95-90, as Antonio scored 11 of
his 28 points in the fourth quarter to lead Airai its second win in four
matches in the second round.
On Fire is now 3-2.
In the other game, Masons Hardware outplayed the Kinsmen, 102-82,
with team captain Maka Ichiro and Juvic finishing 36 and 33 in the game.
The win was Masons first in five games of the second round while
dealing the Kinsmen their sixth straight in as many matches.
