EMI Williams claimed the March
Queen of the Lanes title winning over 14 other bowlers.
After a slow start with 154 pinfalls in Game 1 last Sunday at the Saipan
Bowling Center, Williams had a solid performance in the last three games.
She had 221 in Game 2, 160 in Game 3 and 178 in Game 4 for a total of
713 pinfalls.
She won by 30 pinfalls against Jerrie Vales, who had a good start with
187 in Game 1, but slowed down in the last three games.
Vales had 162, 157 and 177 in Games 1, 2 and 3, respectively, for a total
of 683.
In third place was Gina Sablan, who bowled yesterday and had a total of
677 pinfalls, followed by Gloria Omechelang (658), Diane Camacho (651),
Carol McKenzie (646), Cindy Taitano (642), Yho Villavicencio (626), Ron
Cal (618), Rizz Hensley (611) and Lynn Santos (611).
Finishing out of top 10 were Gigi Zapanta (600), Elena Soll (598), Luce
Deleon Guerrero (593) and Cora Muna (521).
Raphael Zapanta won the March Prince of the Lane with his 686 pinfalls.
It was a come-from-behind win for Zapanta, who was down by 27 pinfalls
against eventual second-placer Jamie Vales entering the final game.
Zapanta had a total of 496 pinfalls after three games, while Vales scored
523.
In Game 4, Zapanta nailed 190 pinfalls against Vales 144 to claim
the top honors.
Placing third was Zack Cruz (604), followed by Ryan (586) and Jared (571)
Gutierrez and Mayanne (570) and Marion (565) McKenzie.
In other results, Alex Cacdac jumped from sixth to first place to claim
the Pepsi March King of the Lanes yesterday.
Cacdac scored 784 pinfalls last Sunday and returned to SBC last night
with a better performance grossing 830 pinfalls to beat Richard Leong.
The newly-crowned March King of the Lanes had 176, 226, 218 and 210 pinfalls
in Games 1 to 4.
Participants in the monthly roll-off are given an option to bowl on Sunday
or Monday. If they bowl on both days, only the higher score will be counted.
Leong bowled last Sunday and scored 828 pinfalls.
Entering Game 4 on Sunday, Leong was behind Tony Cruz by 33 pins, but
the former had 234 pinfalls in Game 4 to slip past the latter by only
five pinfalls, 828-823 to temporarily lead the March King of the Lanes
race.
Leong had 189, 184 and 221 pinfalls in the first three games for a total
of 594.
Cruz scored 209, 173 and 245 pinfalls for a total of 627 at the end of
Game 3. But he had only 196 in the last game and slid to second place.
After yesterdays game and with Cacdac overtaking Leong, Cruz was
relegated to third place, while Robert Talavera (822), Jon Eparwa (820),
Percy Omechelang (816), Kitz Barja (799), Raul Dumapit (795), Jeff Villagomez
(789) and John Hensley (776) rounded of the top 10.
Thirty keglers battled for the March King of the Lanes plum.
