A MAN charged with disturbing
the peace of a woman when she refused to sell him a bottle of soju a year
ago has received a sentence of probation.
Estanislao L. Norita, 39, entered a guilty plea to disturbing the peace
and was sentenced to six months of imprisonment, all suspended.
Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona placed Norita on probation
for a period of six months.
He was ordered to pay a fine of $250, a court assessment fee of $25 and
a probation fee of $50.
Norita was ordered to complete any recommended course of treatment including
alcohol treatment at the Community Guidance Center.
He was ordered to stay away from the San Jose Mart while on probation
and to obey all commonwealth and federal laws.
Noritas review hearing was set for May 16 at 9 am.
According to the prosecution, Norita, on March 22, 2006, unlawfully
acted in a way which unreasonably annoyed or disturbed Virginia Paras
when (he) refused to leave the San Jose Mart after the victim refused
to sell him a bottle of soju because she observed that he was already
intoxicated.
Norita was originally charged with two counts of criminal trespass and
two counts of disturbing the peace for refusing to leave the San Jose
Mart on March 22, 2006 and Kims laundry on Aug. 4, 2005, and for
disturbing the peace of Paras and Mee Yeon Lee.
Norita appeared for a change of plea hearing last week with Chief Public
Defender Elisa Long and entered a guilty plea to one count of disturbing
the peace.
Chief Prosecutor Jeffery Warfield Sr. agreed to dismiss the other charges.
