CHRISTINE Fitial,
daughter of Gov. Benigno R. Fitial, was recently inducted into the prestigious
English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta at the University of San Diego,
a media release stated.
Christine Fitial was inducted on March 24 into Alpha Nu Mu, the USD chapter
of Sigma Tau Delta. The 21-year-old junior was also initiated as the chapters
treasurer.
Sigma Tau Delta is an international honor society for English majors who
have demonstrated excellence in the subject.
Being a member of the honor society guarantees that the student will be
graduating with honors in their major.
Of the hundreds of English majors at USD, approximately 25 were inducted
along with Christine Fitial.
I am so glad that I will be working with you on the executive board
next year, said Dr. Peter Kanelos, faculty sponsor of the honor
society, in congratulating Fitial on her induction. You have one
of the toughest jobs, handling the money, but I trust youll do great.
Fitial is pursuing a double major in English and psychology.
She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 2004 as president of her
senior class. She intends to pursue a masters degree in English upon completion
of her undergraduate studies in May 2008.
