P. Camacho has appointed Major General Donald J. Goldhorn as Guams
Homeland Security Advisor.
Goldhorn replaces Lt. Gov. Michael W. Cruz, who has served as interim
Homeland Security advisor since the administration took office on Jan.
1, 2007.
Goldhorn is also the adjutant general of the Guam National Guard.
He is now one of 12 adjutants general across the nation who serves as
Homeland Security advisors.
In appointing Goldhorn, the governor said he is confident that Goldhorn
would do well because he is a decorated soldier and has shown effective
management leadership ability.
Major General Goldhorn has demonstrated his commitment to our island
and our nation in his current role within the Guam National Guard. I am
confident his leadership skills, dedication and expertise will continue
to move our Homeland Security efforts in the right direction, the
governor said in a statement.
Goldhorn was appointed adjutant general of the Guam National Guard in
March 2005 and serves as the principle advisor to the governor of Guam
on all military matters.
He is directly responsible for the readiness, management and combat effectiveness
of more than 1,100 men and women of the Guam Army and Air National Guard.
Goldhorn previously served as the chief of staff of the Guam Army National
Guard Headquarters from 1995 to 1999.
Goldhorn began his military career in 1969 as a first lieutenant in the
Medical Service Corps. He served 11 months in Vietnam, holding various
command positions with the 51st Medical Company and the Headquarters Detachment
of the 67th EVAC Hospital.
