2007 GKCF/IIAAG Karerån Galaide to kick off Saturday

OVER 200 students from 10 different high schools will be in Tumon Bay Saturday morning as the 2007 GKCF/IIAAG Karerån Galaide will kick off its 2007 season.
This year will include two new schools when Guam High and Southern High school joining St. John’s, GW, JFK, Notre Dame, Father Duenas (with Academy of our Lady), Simon Sanchez, and St. Paul. The event will kick off with warm ups at 7:00am a short opening ceremony at 8:00am with the starting race expected to start at 8:30.
Races are broken down into two categories, Manhoben (JV) and Sotteru (Varsity), and three sub-categories within those two; Girls, Boys, and Mixed. Twenty-five crews will gather at Matapang Beach where the first races, sprints over 250 and 500 meter straight courses, will begin.
The season opens with last years overall champion the Father Duenas Friars looking to repeat against last years’ surprise team in St. Paul. Plus with the two new teams entering it is sure to be an exciting season.
