WATCH & Learn kept its
bid for a finals berth alive after pulling off a 56-54 juiced out win
over the Dublon Chiefs in Game 2 of their semis series in the World Organized
Rocball Community League yesterday at the Marianas High School Gym.
The Dublon Chiefs won Game 1 of the best-of-three semis duel, 52-43, and
needed to prevail in Game 2 to sweep the series and advance to the final.
Game 2 was played last Tuesday, but only the first two and a half sets
were played and the match was tied at 38-all, before it was suspended.
The game resumed yesterday with the Dublon Chiefs leading in the third
set, 14-11. They held Watch & Learn scoreless in the remaining minutes
of the third set to pull off a 16-11 win and move a set away from clinching
the second finals berth.
But Watch & Learn refused to wave the white flag notching an 18-14
victory in the fourth set to tie the series and force a winner-take-all
Game 3.
Game 2 was awarded to Watch and Learn despite losing two of the four sets.
In rocball, a juiced-out win is given to a team that prevails in the fourth
set and holds the lead after the regulation.
Mark McDonald led Watch & Learns win scoring 16 points on four
aces and four kees. Tyce Mister added 10 markers on four kees and an ace.
David Tisa paced the Dublon Chiefs with 12 points on five aces and one
kee.
Fourteen aces, 13 kees and a goal were scored in Game 2. Orig Towe made
the lone goal in the game hitting it in the fourth set.
The winner of the Dublon Chiefs-Watch & Learn semis series will face
the Mwaliyas in a best-of-seven finals showdown.
The Mwaliyas notched the first finals berth after thwarting Da Lani Kynez,
2-1.
The Mwaliyas clinched Game 1after a 64-57 double overtime, victory.
Da Lani Kynez tied the series after taking an overtime win in Game 2,
65-44.
Game 3 ended in favor of the Mwaliyas, who slipped past Da Lani Kynez
after two overtime sets, 79-73.
