Corrections

AN article on your March 29 issue as reported by Emmanuel T. Erediano contained numerous errors that certainly need corrections.
In his report, he stated that there is a maximum of 600 pounds a day during the “good season” from February to June, and a minimum of 150 pounds during “off season” from November to December.
Anyone reading this would think that the proposed co-op has 600 lbs. maximum and 150 lbs. minimum limit it can purchase from fishermen. This is not so.
This statement was in response to Mr. Erediano’s inquiry as to what is typically a good day’s catch (660 lbs.) and what is typically the predominant daily landing during regular season (150 lbs.).
The proposed co-op is not going to set any minimum or maximum weight on its members. It would, however, encourage its members to diversify their catches to different species, especially during seasonal-run (such as mahi-mahi and skipjack tuna) when everyone is catching the same species and the market is flooded with it. Also, the stated price for yellowfin tuna of $225 should be $2.25 and the $175 for skipjack tuna is $1.75.
Thank you for allowing me to make this clarification.
